Erin – Yoga Instructor

InstructorErin discovered yoga in 2006 when she enrolled in a yoga class at her University.  She initially fell in love with it because of the strength and flexibility and “cool moves” she gained from it.  But it wasn’t until graduate school when yoga really became a place of refuge from continual theoretical thinking and poor posture in front of a computer screen.  With a foundation in Ashtanga yoga, Erin places great emphasis on breath with movement, and her style is based on the idea of meditation in motion.  She teaches an athletic vinyasa flow style that balances strength and flexibility.  She believes that through a consistent practice, yoga will take you where you need to be.

image1Michelle Woo – Group Fitness Instructor

Michelle brings her passion for dance and exercise to every class and believes that particpants at every level should feel welcomed in group fitness classes. Her energy is full of fun! Michelle is a AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and is licensed to teach Zumba and Zumba Kids. Her other favorite job is raising two very active boys. In her free time, Michelle likes to watch movies, hang out with friends, and travel with family. She loves cooking, trying different restaurants, and watching her boys play sports.

Barbara has been licensed to teach Zumba and Zumba Gold classes since 2012.  When asked why does she love teaching Zumba Barbara said, “My full-time business is working with corporations in helping them to find the full potential of their employees.  What better way to get employees to their full potential then by getting them fit and healthy?  Then being on the job site is easy.  Plus it’s fun, and I get the benefit of staying fit and healthy too!!  What more could I ask for?”

In fact, Barbara’s company, Human Resource Prescriptions, LLC, a Performance Improvement Consulting firm uses a model called the Human Performance Improvement model and this model stresses the importance of wellness when organizations look to get the most from their employees.

Barbara is highly regarded for her instructional design and facilitation skills.  With over 25 years of experience in the training and development field, her mission is to help clients put the systems in place that help them to more effectively manage in today’s changing business environment while ensuring optimal performance and job satisfaction for all employees.

She completed her undergraduate work in Consumer Affairs and Management at Florida International University and received her M.A. in Human Resource Development from Marymount University.  Barbara lives in Carmel Valley with her husband and pooch and enjoys playing a relaxing round of golf when she’s not dancing with her Zumba pals.

Arianna has had a passion for fitness for most of her life. Her speciality is yoga in a variety of styles but she likes to take it to the limit with sculpt, infusing weights, pilates and cardio in combination with repetitive stretches. She holds an E-RYT in yoga, certification in Sculpt, Yin Yoga, and is pursuing her personal trainer credentials through ACE. Her latest discovery and pursuit is Aquasize which she enjoys with her husband in her free time.

Zuliya – Licensed Zumba® Instructor

Zumba ZuliyaI am licensed to teach Zumba, Zumba Kids and Kids Jr., Zumba Toning, and Aqua Zumba.  My journey with Zumba Fitness started 4 years ago when I was looking for a group fitness class to loose extra pounds I gained during my 2 pregnancies.  I wanted to get back in shape.  I was 40 lbs overweight. The first time I tried Zumba®, I was completely hooked.  I thought to myself that I could do this forever, even when I am 100 years young.  I love how Zumba incorporates many rhythms from around the world with the choreography that is so easy to follow and yet so effective.  Zumba incorporates interval training and participants loose in average 650-800 calories in hour.  In less than a year after I started taking Zumba Fitness classes, I lost 25 lbs. I was blown away by the results and became a complete believer.

I am became a licensed Zumba Instructor and started teaching in 2012.  I love it just as much or even more now as I did then when I was a student.  The work-out is very effective for toning and slimming your entire body.  It will get you in shape, will help you release the stress and will bring you tons of joy.  Since discovering Zumba over 4 years ago, I have never felt more in shape or more confident about myself!  The atmosphere that is created in a Zumba class is absolutely intoxicating, and I LOVE being able to share that feeling with all of my students!
In addition to Zumba Fitness, I also teach BollyX Fitness which is Bollywood inspired dance fitness workout.

Outside of my fitness life, I work as a Broker/Analyst for a Real Estate Investment firm and I manage real estate assets for a non-profit organization called Father’s Heart Ranch.  In my spare time, I love playing with my two boys, biking, hiking and surfing with them in our beautiful city!

Monica has been a certified Zumba Instructor since January 2012. She has always loved to dance and stay active. She loves to motivate others and share the joy of Zumba! She believes that any person of any age or background would enjoy a class! Monica is the mother of 4 active children and the wife of an amazing husband! In what little free time she has, Monica loves to be with family, bike, and attend her children’s sporting events.

Jessica Thon-Ralph – Yoga Instructor

FB_IMG_1452039525390Living most of her life in the mountains of Wyoming and Idaho, Jessica has always enjoyed being outside and active.  She started practicing yoga nearly ten years ago in Pocatello, Idaho to supplement her jiu jitsu training.   She immediately  fell in love and shortly began an apprenticeship to teach.   She enjoys teaching Vinyasa flow and is able to modify for all levels and intensities.

She also teaches jiu jitsu and yoga at Studio 540 in Solana Beach. In her “spare time”, Jessica enjoys knitting and baking with her son.

Kaya is a licensed Zumba instructor and an AFAA certified group fitness instructor. Her passion for dance and music began as a little girl and in dance class. Throughout college, she danced for recreation and exercise. Kaya lived in Ecuador for a year and discovered SALSA. Several years back, she found Zumba and hasn’t stopped since. Kaya brings her joy and love of dance, music and singing to her classes.

Cosette Marolt – Licensed Zumba® Instructor

image009-2Cosette has been in the fitness industry for over 17 years and loves teaching classes!  The favroite part of teaching at the Boys & Girls Club is the friendships she’s made with the amazing instructors and members.  Everyone motivates and inspires each other!  The formats she currently teaches are Zumba, Bodyshred, Pound, and Strength/Core. She is an AFAA certified fitness instructor and also holds certifications in Zumba, Zumba Gold, Zumba Toning, Zumba Kids, Bodyshred, and POUND.

Laurie has been teaching Pilates and fitness for  twenty years.  She is  trained  in the classical Pilates Method  and continues to be amazed at the power of this mind + body method whose hallmark is movement sequences that strengthen and stretch your muscles at the same time.

Laurie is committed to sharing Pilates body conditioning as a method that will boost your stamina, strength and health, no matter your age or ability.

Kelly Benyola

Kelly started her yoga journey in 2010 while attending community college in her home state of New Jersey. After learning a strong foundation for her practice early on, she immediately knew yoga would have a profound influence on her life. She personally enjoys practicing all types of yoga, including anything from a slow restorative Yin class to a fast pace Vinyasa class. Kelly has found more love for herself and self-confidence through yoga. It was the major influence in gaining the courage to move across the country to San Diego in 2013.

After years of being a student of yoga she knew she was ready to share her practice with others. Kelly is currently certified in Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga. Her classes are heavily influenced by breath and slow controlled, movement. Kelly has found that yoga has helped her through many difficult and wonderful times in her life, and wishes to share that experience with whoever wants to join her on this journey.

I am an energetic, fun-loving and passionate person. I realized at a young age that dancing was one of my passions. I would relentlessly watch music videos to learn the choreographies and excitedly share and teach the moves to my friends. I became very active in showcasing my talent in singing and dancing, particularly dancing to hip hop and Latin music.  I enjoy various different music genres, but Dance Hall, Tahitian, Hawaiian, Latin and Urban music have always found a way to make my soul and body move. Zumba being a dance fitness program that consists of multiple dance styles and choreographies, primarily Latin rhythms and hip hop – everything I was in search of.

Needless to say, I was automatically hooked and Zumba became my passion, in addition to being a loving wife and wonderful mother of two adorable boys. I witnessed the positive energy that radiated throughout the class and the impact Zumba had on the students which inspired me to become a Licensed Zumba instructor in August 2014. Since then, I have taken countless of workshops and training to hone my skills. I am very proud to be a part of a corporation that treats every member and students as family. When students take my dance class, I do my very best to help them achieve their intentions and desires; whether it may be to sweat, to have “me” time, to dance or to have fun!  I am a Licensed Zumba & Zumba Kids Instructor.
